This fall I attended a regional event on parenting children suffering from trauma, hosted by Defending the Cause, a non-profit dedicated to helping people of faith communities connect with local resources to help youth by strengthening families. One of the resources I discovered is devoted to giving foster youth a renewed mind for a hopeful future. Kamaljit Budwal, an independent consultant with USBorne Books and More, has created a local initiative to provide foster youth with books. The aim is to inspire them with the gift of learning to love to read and to own their own books. Below Kam explains her current initiative to secure more books to meet a growing need. This book drive is extended into the middle of December. You can reach her at kambudwal@yahoo.com.

Hi. My name is Kam and I have partnered up with Tiffany Loeffler from Defending the Cause Regional Alliance to provide new quality books to foster children in our area.

Why contribute? You will be making the youth in our community feel the spirit of the season with this gift while encouraging a positive and warm relationship between our social workers and each child they help. It is important to make all children feel included, hopeful and encourage them to build their futures.  Our books encourage hopeful learning. Participating in this drive supports our efforts to provide the gift of literacy.

About:  We are a non-profit education center founded in Roseville, CA to strengthen the parent-child bond in a hyper-connected world. Our mission is to restore families with the mustard seed of faith that declares liberty already belongs to the soul because one God, the Creator of all humanity, grants every human being intelligence and free will to choose what to believe, and that is power that can never be taken, but is easily surrendered to the bully, the drug or the device. To that end, ten percent of all proceeds are donated to prison ministries. Your donations are greatly appreciated. (Donations are payable to Banana Moments Foundation).
