“If children believe they can Google everything and anything they need to know, who needs parents, teachers, coaches – or their Creator to impart wisdom? ” — Joanna Jullien, editor of Banana Moments
In April 2004, Joanna launched Banana Moments: Family Business Quarterly as a very important project to help strengthen the parent-child relationship in a cyber-powered world.
Presently, this newsletter is distributed to parents of children ranging in ages from infancy to 25 years. It offers information, insights, resources and stories to inspire and encourage relating parental authority to children in a cyber-powered world that seduces us away from truth, to lower boundaries for personal security, and can often keep us focused on things that really don’t matter.
Information, inspiration and encouragement for parents
To help parents with thought leadership in the dynamic, complex and hyped environment our children are navigating, Banana Moments shares the observations and insights of professionals from law enforcement, education, health care, other service providers, literature on parenting and family culture, and personal experience of parents, youth and families. Today Banana Moments includes: the quarterly newsletter, a blog, Joanna’s Sacramento Cyber Safety Examiner column on Examiner.com, and her book on relational authority called The Authority In Me.
The purpose of this research and journalism is to reinforce parent confidence to lead and strengthen bonds with children in ways that hold fast to norms for what is legal and safe. The aim is to produce citizens who command cyber communications tools with a boundary setting mentality, rather than be manipulated by them.
Banana Moments subscribers are educators, law enforcement officers, health care professionals, psychologists, stay-at-home Moms and Dads, and young adult youth leaders. The subscriber base is primarily located in California, there are subscribers in other parts of the country.
In order to continue the distribution expansion for this important message to help strengthen parent-child bonds in the network culture, sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses that offer valuble services to parents and families . For more inforamtion please contact:
